Happy Beeday!

Adeline turned one last month and we celebrated with a bee-themed party. Happy first birthday Addie!

The invites...

Honeycomb cake. To achieve the honeycomb texture, I pressed bubble wrap into the icing then refrigerated the cake for about 2 hours before removing the bubble wrap. The cake topper is a toy bee painted with gold acrylic paint.

Donut hole hive! The hive is made from a sytrofoam base, coverd in aluminum foil. The donut holes are attafhed to the base using toothpicks. I filled in the gaps between donut holes with buttercream frosting and decorated it with sugar bees. I used 12 dozen donut holes, but more may be needed depending on the size of your base.

I gold-leafed honey bear bottles and used them as vases

Party games included a beehive pinata, honeycomb punch-out game, and pin-the-stinger on the bee.

A Sweet Birthday Party

After a looong break from the blog, I'm back to briefly share some birthday party ideas with you! Vera requested a "cupcake party" for her third birthday, so we went with a pink and mint green "sweets" theme. Happy third birthday, sweet girl!!!

The invitations...

Starting the day off right; breakfast with Daddy

The ice cream truck printables are from PaperBuilt, which I used for favor bags.

The party favors included Play-doh, made to look like little pints of ice cream.

Vera Turns Two!

Vera turned two this month and we celebrated with a circus themed party. So blessed to have spent the last two years as her parents!

Vera in her birthday dress

The "concession stand" was decorated with a ticket and burlap garland. I wasn't able to find turquoise tickets anywhere so I bought white ones and painted them.

I made a chocolate cake with buttercream frosting, using the same cake recipe as last year.

The cake was decorated with circus peanuts, red striped paper straws, and a bit of wired pom pom trim, as well as a little ceramic monkey that belonged to Vera's grandfather.

Ready to cut the cake!

Popcorn, mini corn dog muffins, and pretzels!

Paper fans for the table centerpieces

We tied bags of cotton candy to a vintage ladder using strips of shredded paper. This made the bags easy for guests to tear off.

Party favors included clown noses and goldfish soap.

What's a good circus without a sideshow act?

I made felt beards using some of the free templates found here and here.
